Mini Thin is an OTC diet pill that is sold on sites that sell pills containing the banned herbal weight loss ingredient ephedra. It is advertised as containing 25mg of ephedrizine and delivering high speed energy and enhanced stamina. If this product does indeed contain ephedra, it is illegal for sale and purchase in the United States.
Is Ephedra in the Formula?
There are many non-prescription diet pills that claim to have ephedra in their formula but that don’t actually contain this ingredient. That said, any manufacturer that claims or advertises to have made a formula containing ephedra or ephedrine – Mini Thin included – regardless of whether or not this is true, is disreputable, should not be trusted and their products should be avoided.
In the case of Mini Thin, the formula includes the following ingredients:
- Caffeine Anhydrous
Ephedrizine Proprietary Blend:
- Corynanthe Extract
- Choline Bitartrate
- D-Aspartic Acid
- Yerba Mate
- Cayenne Pepper
- Green Tea
- White Will Bark
Based on the above ingredients, it doesn’t appear that ephedra is in the Mini Thin formula. It seems that the manufacturer of this product has used the term “Ephedrizine” to imply that the formula contains ephedra or ephedrine or is as strong as this banned herb
. This type of marketing is similar to the way that nonprescription diet pills that use “Phen” in their name give the impression that their product’s formula is similar to the diet pill Phentermine.
However, giving the impression that a weight loss product contains ephedra is particularly shady since the herb has been banned due to dangerous side effects including death.
Unwanted Stimulant Side Effects are Likely
Although Mini Thin does not appear to contain ephedra, it does have enough stimulants that it can still result in certain unwanted side effects that would make the risks of taking it outweigh the benefits.
Adverse stimulant effects include (but are not limited to):
- Mood swings
- Digestive upset
- Rapid heartbeat
- Heart palpitations
- High blood pressure
The risk of these effects is increased if you should ingest other stimulants while taking this product (e.g. coffee, tea, cola, energy drinks, etc.).
It is highly recommended that you avoid taking Mini Thin. As previously stated, any product that claims to contain ephedra, has a formula suggesting that it is similar to ephedra, or is sold on sites that sell other ephedra diet pills, should be avoided. Choose your diet pills wisely and stay safe.
